I find it easier to link to the separate tutorial for the different ways (3) to open Win+X that most folks already know instead of overloading the steps with the info since this tutorial is about different ways to shut down the computer instead.

There are often many ways to open something that don't always need to include all of them to accomplish the main goal. I often have a link in the steps though in case one would like to see or have referenced the different ways.

For example, in some tutorials I have open the Control Panel in step 1. I just link for how in the step instead of having all the different ways to open the Control Panel.

    checking for safety

If I just type shutdown /p into notepad and save it as a .bat file, will double-clicking it shut down the computer? I have a remote control and if I call the file 3.bat, I can press 3 on the remote to select it and press enter and the file will run. I use this on my vlc playlist file to run my music from bed at night.

    Hello,

If it runs that command, it will shut down the computer.

This was super helpful! I wanted to shutdown computer using a shortcut, because EventViewer error at shutdown, probably harmless, but you never know... So I can kill service, which causes error first. But I wanted to wait on programs to close. I did not find /p switch even on Microsoft Docs and not on 3 other sites!!! Also not in cmd /help. And I even read from expert on HowToGeek, that shutdown /s is same as shutdown using start menu... While it was not... WTF? This site is best! Shouldn't be so annoying to find something this simple...
