Deleting HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\CopyAsPathMenu deletes the redundant "Copy as path" entry, but it also disables your "Copy path" item. Now it's greyed out and clicking on it doesn't do anything at all.
Yep, I see the same after testing. Looks like we're stuck with it.

    Oh well.
Let me know if you find a solution.

I already searched the registry prior to asking, and I couldn't find anything.
User klepp0906 had the same problem a couple of years ago, but never came up with a solution. (see registry pros - remove "copy as path" from extended context menu?)

I think I understand pretty well how to add new items to the context menu, but there appear to be some items that Micro$oft put there that aren't defined by registry entries. I have no idea where they're defined / specified.
I suspect that user dalchina's response in the thread I cited above just might be correct.

Shawn's Copy as Path does work....

    "C:\Users\dhubb\Skype Hosts File for Ads.txt"

    Tomcat,
I think you misunderstood. "Copy path" is Shawn's. It works just fine.
"Copy as path" is Micro$oft's. It's redundant when Shawn's code is added, so I'd like to remove it without breaking Shawn's code.

It would be just as acceptable if the "Extended" attribute could be removed from "Copy as path", so it would show up on the non-extended context menu. In that case, Shawn's code would be the redundant one. (Although I do prefer Shawn's wording "Copy path" to M$'s. If the "Extended" attribute can be removed, it would be nice if the wording could be changed too.)

It can be disabled with https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html

Requires a restart to test, which I can't do right now.

It didn't work. I set "disabled" to "Yes", then rebooted. "Copy as path" still appears in the shift right click menu.

I don't have it. (Copy as path)

    I don't know why.

    EDIT:

Sorry. It is there in Extended Context Menu.

    EDIT (Again)

    Found this.

I cannot confirm that it is the correct entry. I took ownership and attempted to delete. No luck as it wasn't possible to delete it. I reckon that I'd have to take ownership of CLSID and subkeys in order to delete it and I'm not going to do that.

    I restored original permissions.

Just to confirm...is there still no way to delete the default Copy Path menu?

If the registry key cannot be deleted, can icons, MUIVerbs or other strings/dwords be added?

    Thanks!

    Hello mate,

Deleting HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\CopyAsPathMenu deletes the default Copy as path context menu, but it also disables (grays out) the "Copy path" context menu added by this tutorial.
