Hello Kem,
Did you use Option One for a .html file?
not sure.
I just dragged and dropped the folder onto a usb stick and then dragged and dropped file into where indicated on the new pc
It sounds like you used Option Two instead.
If you like, you might see if Option One may work better for you.
I'd recommend that you use the HTML export/import technique... it is the most "future proof" of all of the methods. Just do an "export to file" on the "donor PC" and then do a "import from file" on the "recipient PC".
Note: If the recipient PC has any favorites at all... then Edge will place the new items in a top-level folder called "Imported from...".
Take a look at this article that explains a lot of the details: http://www.edgemanage.emmet-gray.com/Articles/BackupRestore.html
I can see the bookmarks in the folder of the new pc I copied them to but cannot see how to encourage Edge to display them
no it was two
I tried the export/import html file method and it worked.
thanks for all the help
Since 1803, Microsoft Edge does not create an html backup file anymore, but a whole daily backup of Edge favorites and settings in the hidden folder:
%UserProfile%\MicrosoftEdgeBackups
Shawn @Brink, would it be possible to update the tutorial to enlighten us on how to restore from this backup, if of course you have any idea how this can be done.
