    Possibly, but not sure.

I'd personally manually export an .html as a known good backup to have in case needed.

    Like I have.
What's the use of OneDrive, if I don't use it(less chance of loss, in case my libraries disk goes "Bits Up".

So far I like the idea of Edge Auto Backup. But being the Paranoid Cynic I am, I've continued making a Manual Backup as part of my weekly routine. And keep several of them.

    Sync Issues

So I have two PCs, one a desktop and one a Surface Book 2 that I just got (had other PCs in the past). I can easily delete the database for favorites and also the backup. But whatever I do, I can't seem to get the sync to update so it sees the new favorites. I have so many copies upon copies of favorites in there that it's a mess. I have a clean copy of my favorites saved as a file and also in IE but the old favorites keep coming back. I've even tried deleting the database from both PCs at the same time but next time Edge starts the synced favorites come back. How do I make sure the synced data is clean?

Hello reverseswing, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

If you haven't already, see if turning off your sync settings will stop your favorites from syncing back causing the duplicates.

I do understand that I can turn sync off and everything's fine at that time. But I do want to be able to have my favorites sync and when I enable it, it again pulls all that garbage data and starts showing it again. Is there no way to do this? Sounds like you're saying the only way to do this is to disable the sync and keep it disabled. is that correct?

    Hi Shawn @Brink,

I just noticed that I have a hidden folder named:
    %userprofile%\MicrosoftEdgeBackups\backups\MicrosoftEdgeBackup20180324

with an export of my favorites as of today (2018-Mar-24)!
Its "root" folder %userprofile%\MicrosoftEdgeBackups has creation date 2017-Oct-19, the date I upgraded to FCU.

Today, or any other day I did not export my Edge favorites, since I have a backup script which runs daily and backs up the Edge favorites among others.

Do you also have such a folder? And is Edge making an export, on its own, every once in a while? If Edge indeed makes a daily backup (export) can we customize it?

    Thanks!

    Hello Dimitri, :)

Yep, I have that folder as well. It's basically Microsoft Edge automatically creating a backup for the same thing in the tutorial.

If you like, you can also export and import favorites with an .html file in Microsoft Edge.
