Be aware that until Microsoft updates the normal users to the latest fast ring build, the oh so nice "all apps on/off" button is missing. You have to turn them off one. at. a. time.

    Hello @chok, :)

Here are the commands to turn on/off background apps:

    (On)
    Reg Add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\BackgroundAccessApplications /v GlobalUserDisabled /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

    (Off)
    Reg Add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\BackgroundAccessApplications /v GlobalUserDisabled /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f

    Control via policy:
    Code:
    0 - Default
    1 - Enabled
    2 - Disabled

    reg add "HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\AppPrivacy" /v "LetAppsRunInBackground" /t REG_DWORD /d "2" /f

This setting also changes a different entry since 1803, maybe that is the reason, why it will not stay off.
    Code:
    reg add "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Search" /v "BackgroundAppGlobalToggle" /t REG_DWORD /d "0" /f

Dumb question, but which ones of these are new? I checked this tutorial yesterday and I'm fairly certain that everything below option two wasn't there then, although I could be wrong.

    Hello trashbag, :)

Options 5 and 6 were added, and options 3 and 4 only had a second registry value added to them.

Oh, so the Group Policy policy was added in 1803? Apparently only W10 Pro was having issues with background apps in 1803 while W10 Home wasn't, I wonder if the new policy would have something to do with it.

Either way the policy edit seems to have worked for now.

The group policy has always been there, but I just now added it as an option in the tutorial.

I'm glad the policy is making it work for you.
