I think I managed to do all of above ok, but have a couple of questions about password for user accounts.

    <Password>
    <Value>UABhAHMAcwB3AG8AcgBkADcAOAA5AFAAYQBzAHMAdwBvAHIAZAA=</Value>

Is that just some random typing or an encrypted password?

I assume I enter nothing if I want no passwword?
No, passwords for those imaginary users in sample answer file are those told in "Quest" post:

    • Create local admin user Admin with password Password123
    • Create local standard user Kari with password Password456
    • Create local guest account Visitor with password Password789
For security reasons when an answer file is saved with Windows SIM, passwords for user accounts being created will be encrypted.

Did you find out what I meant with trick question about time zone for Sydney?

I'm sorry I was unable to attend the live event, here's hoping we can let Kari do his video editing so we can view it again sooner!

TBH - I skipped over that question. I assume that is because the Sydney timezone is same as Aussie default timezone? PM me if you do not want to publicly answer?

Re.passwords - just tried it. I see how it works now.

I could see how to delete a user, but not how to add - will look again.

Edit: worked it out - right click and get context menu option.

No, the trick with Sydney time zone was that they still have summer time for one week, until April 2nd. If someone had checked the current time / time zone in Sydney (AEDT, Australian Eastern Daylight Time) and put that in answer file it hadn't worked. Windows time zones are always given in standard time, Windows takes then care of toggling normal / summertime.

In this case the correct time zone (regarding the "Quest" question) would have been E. Australia Standard Time.

You add users in Windows SIM adding Shell-Setup > UserAccounts > LocalAccounts to configuration pass 7, oobeSystem in Image pane bottom left:
Create Windows 10 ISO image from Existing Installation-image.png

When added, right click Local Accounts in Answer File pane top middle to add an account:
Create Windows 10 ISO image from Existing Installation-image.png

... and fill in details in Properties pane top right:
Create Windows 10 ISO image from Existing Installation-image.png

Question: How would you do that using a text editor? A hint: You would be forced to show password in answer file in plain text, not encrypted.

BTW, I was asked to write about this process on IT Knowledge Exchange. Our member @Ed Tittel is a well known IT writer and author, having his own blog on IT Knowledge Exchange going back to 2008. I wrote a six part series of the process as Ed's guest blogger, pretty much the same as told in this tutorial and covered in our live event yesterday.

Yes, there seem to be some problem with the pages. Some articles open, others don't.

Try this: All Windows Enterprise Blog Posts

Navigate down to the correct article and start reading
