Hide or Show Desktop Icons in Windows 10

    Count me in the list of users who can't get their desktop icons back. Any attempt at right-clicking or long-pressing the desktop is ignored.

    Thanks. Already discovered another thread with the "hit Shift-F10" solution. Worked like a charm. :)

    Try this: Reboot, then login and when the desktop appears click on it a couple of times to give it the focus. Then hit Shift-F10. This should cause the Desktop context menu to appear in the upper left corner of the desktop display area. Then select the "View" submenu and click on the "Show desktop icons" menu item.

    On some keyboards (ex: laptop), you may need to press the Function (FN)+Shift+F10 keys instead while you have the desktop in focus.

    I prefer a discreet desktop but sometimes I have a need to quickly show my populated desktop icons. How-to Geek offers a handy executable that works very well in this regard.

    It's a quick right click on the desktop by default.

    Yes, this is an old thread, but xips's tip worked a treat !
    Seem to recall having had something like it in 7 days.
