Change Default Action of Power Button in Windows 10

    Hi Shawn,

    Actually, it worked, the only thing I'd mention that you have to reboot the machine in order to have the effect of the commands specified in Section Three of your post!

    Another weird thing is that once you change the settings using powercfg.exe, the Control Panel would still show the old settings (that's why I could not figure it out when I posted the first message).

    You didn't used to need to restart the computer to apply, but I'll add that now.

    Tutorial updated to add options 5 and 6 to specify default power button action via group policy.

    When i change settings with option 1 , these are not stored. They go back to the presets on their own.
    But the solution works by setting up group policy editor.
    Just in case who anyone knows how this is fixed.

    Hello,

    I successfully changed the power button function, but if my cat presses down on it long enough it will shut down. Is there a way to modify this "long press" behavior.
