Thanks. I may mark this for later use, but right now these are my little obsessive one-time tweaks after imaging a PC to make my life a little easier.

    You can also use:

    desk.cpl ,5

    instead of

    rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL desk.cpl,,0

I tried the Add_This-PC_Desktop_Icon.reg tweak but I have not had any luck with it (Windows 10 1803 build)

I was hoping to use this tweak on a sysprepped image so that new domain users could have This PC on their desktop by default.

Hello Yuudachi, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

I just tested on my v1803 to verify, and it's still working for me.

Did you refresh (F5) you desktop after merging the .reg file?

Thank you. The registry tweak does work on the profile on which it is run -- but not on subsequent profiles.

I was creating a generalized sysprep, so when after joining the domain and having a user to log in to it for the first time, they don't get the This PC shortcut on their desktop (but it is under administrator, which is the profile I ran the registry on).

Correct. It will only get applied to the current account, and not all users.

I suppose you could create a This PC shortcut and place it in the "C:\Users\Default\Desktop" folder to have it available for any new accounts created afterwards.

recycle bin icon and other icon issues

I upgraded the last (Fujitsu laptop) computer to Windows 10 Pro yesterday and am having only a few issues. All of my personal desktop icons came over just fine. However, the Recycle Bin icon was among the missing. I worked through option 1 in the tutorial. At "Desktop Icon settings" the Recycle Bin icon was already checked. I checked "Computer" and "Control Panel" (Yay!), and in the box below I highlighted "This PC". Then selected "Allow themes to change..." and "Ok"

The result was that I got icons for Computer and Control Panel, but not for Recycle Bin and This PC.

I read the comments above. I tried F5, then I restarted. No change.

    What now?

    Hello Judy,

Computer and This PC would be the same to show the This PC icon on your desktop.

If you haven't already, you might see if unchecking Recycle Bin, apply, check Recycle Bin, and click on OK may toggle it to show.
