    @Brink

    I went ahead and selected "Always Notify" for UAC in Option 1, and it removed the "Make this PC Discoverable" setting. But...does that wipe out the whole setting, or does it only make the option "blind" (meaning, my PC is still technically "Discoverable", but it's just not visible)?

    I'm not sure where you got this from, but it's best to leave UAC set to its default setting instead to avoid side effects like that.

    I've performed #3, and #2 isn't cooperating...what do I do? :-/
    What isn't cooperating with #2?

    Did it stay on Private when you did #3?

    From your "Note" in #5, under Option 1.

    I don't know...it just didn't.

    And no...it did not stay "Private". That's why I performed the UAC change...

    Could I be having issues, because I'm not logged in as an "Administrator"? And if so, how do I do that? I ran the "cmd" window as an admin, but I don't know how to do that, outside of the cmd window.

    Ah, ok. Yeah, the Make this PC discoverable setting will not be available if you have UAC set to Always notify.

    Yep, you'll need to be signed in as an administrator account.

    Hi guys,

    I am having a problem with setting the network to private and could use some help. My PC is running Win 10 pro and i also use a VPN service which seems to be the cause for this problem. When i am not connected to the VPN, i can set the network to private by making the PC discoverable in the network settings.

    But as soon as i connect to the VPN, the option "make this PC discoverable" disappears from the settings and my network is now visible as public instead of private.

    How do i set the VPN connection to a constant private mode in Windows 10?

    Hello @redturtle, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

    You should be able to use Option 2 in the tutorial to set the name of the VPN profile as a private network.
