    Hello macster, :)

The screen you have to click on before the sign-in screen would be the lock screen.
Well.. I have followed the gpedit.msc steps, and rebooted the computer and it still shows up

on another note.. how come the screen saver does not work unless I login first?
What I mean is, if the computer starts up and I just leave it, the screen saver won't start.. but if I login and then leave the computer alone, the screensaver comes up at the time I set it for.

Is there a way to make the screen saver come on at the lock screen?

Just to make sure you understand what I would like... I DO want to enter a password to enter Windows..so I don't want that disabled, I just want the lock screen disabled, NOT the login screen.

    macster,

The group policy no longer works for the W10 Pro edition. It'll only work for Enterprise, Education, and Server editions now. If you like, you should still be able to use OPTION THREE to disable only the lock screen.

The screen saver only plays while signed in, but it's usually best to have the display just turn off instead for battery/energy savings.

Does option 3 disables the lock screen at start up also, or just when the computer is manually locked?

I have tried both the gpedit and the registry "fix" and it did not remove the lock screen.
and yes, I have rebooted in both scenarios.

No, it won't disable at startup in Pro. You could use the LogonController_Patch by dobbelina posted below to do so and keep the sign-in screen. I would recommend to create a restore point first just to be extra safe though.

    LogonController_Patchv3.zip is now available.

    Extract LogonController_Patch folder to somewhere,
    and execute Install.cmd as Administrator.
    To restore backed up LogonController.dll,
    execute same script.

As a safety feature you can't apply a patch twice, as you would then overwrite the backup file.
The script looks for LogonController.bak in the system32
folder which is the backupfiles name.
If you update Windows via WU, and you got a patched dll,
you have to manually delete the LogonController.bak file from System32 if the LogonController.dll gets replaced,
otherwise the patcher wont run again.
(access denied message if you try to restore, or Already Patched if you try to patch again )

    Patches LogonController.dll versions:
    10.0.14393.206
    10.0.14393.479

(Latest Cumulative Update 10.0.14393.576 still uses LogonController.dll v10.0.14393.479)
The latest Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB3213986) from 1/6/2017 updated the logoncontroller.dll so the patch is not working again. I tried the latest version 4.

The latest dll version is 10.0.14393.594

    Thanks,
    Mike
