    Hey Spokey,
    I think what your looking for is in Settings > Personalization > Lock Screen and at the bottom Screen Saver Settings. Uncheck the on resume display lock screen.
    Doesn't work. That setting is clear. But to be sure, I just checked it, rebooted, unchecked it, rebooted. I have the power settings set to turn off the display after 1 minute (that short for testing purposes). After a minute, the display goes off. For a while I can swipe the touchpad and the display comes back on. But around the 2 minute mark (1 minute to turn off the display and 1 more minute with it off) when I swipe the touchpad, I have to log on again. And I think it is the lock screen I'm seeing.

    Hello spokey,

    Is your computer set to go to sleep at that 2 minute mark. If so, then turning off require sign-in on wakeup should stop it.

    Thanks Brink;

    That seems to have done it although I'm still testing to be sure.

    The thing is that it should never be going to sleep. The basic settings are below. Any thoughts on why a wakeup setting affects this/

    Great news so far.

    I'm not sure why it would go to sleep at 2 minutes with those settings either.

    " I still get what I think is the lock screen, but most important the stupid thing makes me log on again."

    Brink's reg file DOES work. You may be confusing the Lock screen which the one with the big Time and Date in the lower L corner with the Log-in screen which is where you enter your password. The tutorial is designed to by pass the Lock screen only.

    Brink's suggestion in #261 seems to be working. I didn't have the logon/startup issue because I auto logon. I just have/had the problem after the screen was turned off after inactivity.

    I mostly have win7 & 8.1 machines but do have another desktop that was upgraded to win 10 during the free period (the problem was a win 10 laptop bought with that OS). Just applied the reg file to show the wakeup power setting and it had defaulted to 'no'. It has the same turn off display and never sleep. That machine starts itself in the morning and shuts itself down at night and never has any sleep or logon problem.
