Thank you for the heads up Phrab. It's a shame that some updates will reset some stuff back to default.
Just some more information on updates. When I checked my restore points using CCleaner, I found that I had 2 restore points for each day...
Automatically Create System Restore Point on Schedule in Windows 10-systemrestore1.pngThe one at 5:30 AM is the one I manually created in the task scheduler. While I don't know when it happened, I now notice that this:Automatically Create System Restore Point on Schedule in Windows 10-taskschedsysrestore.png was somehow created by Microsoft & creates a system restore daily, so I disabled the one I created. Don't know if this happened during the upgrade to 1803, but I think it did.

Thanks, @Eagle51. I have a better understanding of why it's happening now.

    @phrab ...
FWIW ... Windows Defender Antivirus Antimalware Platform - KB4052623 was released yesterday I believe, but I didn't get it until today. We're hoping that with this update MS has fixed/stopped the WD Verification Task from creating daily restore points. From early reports, it seems they may have stopped them, but it'll take a couple of days to know for sure.

    Hi:

I'm trying to set up Task Scheduler to create a daily RP. I keep seeing-in the scheduler- that the task completed successfully. Yet I only see my own manually created RPs in the System Properties Protection interface..And none of those the Task scheduler says it "successfully completed"

My settings for Action in Task Scheduler are: Start a Program

    %windir%\system32\srtasks.exeExecuteScheduledSPPSCreation

and I have it set so that User Account is: SYSTEM (and not my username as in the tutorial)

    ****************************************

    1) Are the action entries as you have it in the Tutorial still correct:

powershell.exe and then: For add arguments

-ExecutionPolicy Bypass -Command "Checkpoint-Computer -Description "Automatic Restore Point" -RestorePointType "MODIFY_SETTINGS""

    2) Is it necessary to put in my (Administrative) user account instead of SYSTEM as I have it now?

    3) Might the reason its not creating the RPs --as I have it set up now--be that I'm manually creating my own RPS and the Task Scheduler notes that there already was one created that day? Odd that it says completed at the specified time, but no rP is there..

    Thanks

    Hello @eliuri,

The exact steps in the tutorial still work for me using an administrator account at step 11.

    Ty:

Might it be safe and effective to create a separate Task Schedule entry, in accordance with your Tutorial while leaving the one that came with this (used PC) intact?

Just in case this one--as I now have it-- is actually doing something?

I have Windows 10 version 1803. Not Windows 10 Pro

Sure, you could safely create another task to test with.

    Thanks again:

I think I see now why it might not have been working. I overlooked that first step in your tutorial. My apologies..

    1. If you haven't already, you will need to change the SystemRestorePointCreationFrequency DWORD value to 0 in Registry Editor for this task to work properly.
I probably was too scared of altering registry manually, so my mind blocked that out...Is there some simple app which does that for you?
