How to Run Blue Screen Error (BSOD) Troubleshooter in Windows 10

    information   Information
A blue screen error (also called a stop error) can occur if a problem causes your PC to shut down or restart unexpectedly. When you experience this type of error, you won’t be able to see things like the Start menu or the taskbar on the screen when your PC is turned on. Instead you might see a blue screen with a message that your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart.

This tutorial will show you how to run the Blue Screen (BSOD) troubleshooter to troubleshoot errors that cause Windows 10 to stop or restart unexpectedly.

    Note   Note
The Blue Screen (BSOD) troubleshooter interprets the bugcheck codes, and tells you if the blue screen crash was caused by:
    • Faulty hardware
    • Failing disk drive
    • Malware
    • Memory failure
    • Services
    • Device drivers

For more details about blue screen or stop errors, see:

    warning   Warning
The Blue Screen troubleshooter is no longer available starting with Windows 10 version 1809.

That's too bad, after forcing a BSOD I get the message that no issue was detected....
I didn't expect much, because this is in the begin fase, but I did expect the troubleshooter to at least detect that a BSOD had occured.

I guess you still have a job then @axe0:)

What would be nice if it just gernerated a log with the information needed ,and automatically placed it in the downloads folder.
I say downloads, because of users like me that hide their desktop icons, and wouldn't notice it was created.
If it went to the downloads folder, it could then ask the user what he wants to do with it, save or save as...etc.

The blue screen troubleshooter was available with Windows 10 through version 1803.
The Windows 10 version 1809 that was placed on hold no longer has this troubleshooting feature.
Windows 10 1809 re-release is on hold as of 10/25/2018.

I don't seed the "Blue Screen" troubleshooter in build 18267 either. It doesn't look good for it.

Given that the automated WinDBG analysis of the BSOD crash dumps often needs a lot of interpretation and additional work to follow up I never had high hopes for the troubleshooter. It might have helped some of the time (10%) but the difficult cases still need a BSOD analyst.

This tutorial needs amending since Option 2 no longer appears to be available in Windows 10. Why not?
