Microsoft Edge is a new web browser that is available across the Windows 10 device family. It is designed for Windows 10 to be faster, safer, and compatible with the modern Web.

Microsoft Edge has an InPrivate browsing feature. When you use InPrivate tabs, your browsing data (like cookies, history, or temporary files) isn't stored on your PC after you're done. Microsoft Edge deletes temporary data from your PC after all of your InPrivate tabs are closed.

This tutorial will show you how to open a new InPrivate browsing window in Microsoft Edge for your account in Windows 10.
    Note   Note
Starting with Windows 10 build 16241, the Pin to Taskbar option is now grayed out for InPrivate sessions in Microsoft Edge. Websites pinned to the taskbar from an InPrivate session on a previous build will now open in a regular (non-InPrivate) Microsoft Edge session.

    Here's How:

    1. Open the Microsoft Edge app, and do step 2 or step 3 below for how you would like to open a new InPrivate window.

    2. Press the Ctrl+Shift+P keys.

    OR

    3. Click/tap on the More actions button, and click/tap on New InPrivate window. (see screenshot below)

    Build 10162
When opening an inprivate edge window 1st time after loading edge - all ok
close that inprivate window and inprivate doesn't work again - just an edge winfdow.
    close edge and ok again.

Hello Andy, and welcome to Ten Forums.

I have the same issue in build 10162, and sent feedback to Microsoft about it.

Please upvote it, or send feedback as well to help make sure Microsoft is aware so it'll be fixed. :)

Just after submitting my question I pinned and or closed all tabs that I had open in Edge and Chrome. I then ran Disk Cleanup and deleted all System Files then ran a Defrag. Opened a fresh Edge Window in attempting to open New InPrivate Window. Needless to day that feature was still grayed out.

Will keep you updated as to my progress.

Just responded to Brink with my attempts. Also tried yours to no avail.

Will also keep you posted as to my progress.

    Thanks.

    Note   Note
In Windows 10 build 17074, when users try to create a Microsoft Edge InPrivate window from inside a Mixed Reality headset, a regular window will get created instead. Users won’t be able to use InPrivate inside Mixed Reality in this build. InPrivate on desktop is not affected.

I tested creating a shortcut using this below so far, but it doesn't actually open one since it doesn't have the InPrivate logo at the top right corner.

    explorer microsoft-edge:about:InPrivate
