@Kari, Sorry I should have been clearer. I'm restoring from WindowsPE, the sleep timer is built into the HDD for 10 mins of inactivity, this means when Macrium is restoring the image (Windows OS) it hasn't accessed the external HDD for at least 10 mins.

It only accesses the HDD during verification phase. So I'm wondering how is it restoring exactly, where is it restoring from? RAM?
    OK, I misunderstood you.

About that, I have not a faintest idea, to be honest. Let's hope some other member knows the answer.

I think that if you want to upgrade instead of uninstalling v.6 / clean installing v.7 you need this update.

Thanks folks. I use Macrium twice daily and this morning was the first time the update showed :)

I wonder what benefits the free version of V7 will offer over V6 because a lot of the good stuff is only for the paid for versions as far as I know ? That said, I've been very pleased with the free offering and it has been a revelation over expensive paid for versions from other well known companies.

@Mooly, may be a while till you find out. Take a look at Cliff's post. Macrium seems to say freebie will not be available right away.

Thanks :) and truth be told I'm quite happy using the current version.

It would be nice if our next excuse to clean install... as in new W10 version time, more or less coincided with the new release from Macrium. And I suppose there will be a free trial of the full version which we can always undo later with what we have now. Happy days.

Yes I believe so. The options in MR have changed in the latest release. Just make sure you have this checked
