That is optional, a boot menu entry for Macrium which allows you to select either Windows or Macrium Recovery when you boot the PC.

You only get the Macrium boot menu option if you follow the optional steps told after Part Two Step 7. Check the yellow TIP box after that step, the one that begins like this:

    Thanks.

I have a suggestion. You advise restoring from a Macrium Image from within Macrium Rescue Media rather than from within Windows itself (that is, not with the normal desktop showing). It seems to me that would have to be be done without access to your tut (which is online). I have therefore printed it out on paper and filed it away. I suggest you might like to consider putting a note about that at the end of Part 5 of your tut.

It is really very helpful to have well illustrated step-by-step tuts like this. Thanks for all your efforts.

Hello Kari I have seacrched throughthe tutorisl but am obviously missing soemthing. Now whielusing 7 I used to be able to set the imaging to a weekly basis so that they built up into a list of images ad when getting full used to keep the very original one and then delete two or three of the following ones to make room for the ongoing process.
I cannot find thi option in the latest free macrium so has it been removed or is it referred to by soem othe heading??

Can I use this backup and restore method to move my windows to a different drive (my SSD kind of busted right now)? Will I be able to boot normally from the partition where I restore to? Also do I need to create a new partition before doing this and what should I format it to (NTFS, FAT32,...) Im kind of new with the whole install windows stuff.

Open Macrium. Choose Create an image of the partitions etc... and make your choices in the following windows. At the end press finish.

Virtual Disk Service error when creating WinPE Rescue Media

When first creating the WinPE Rescue Media on a 16gb USB stick I got an error about the partition (error code 5) so I followed the instruction from the Macrium Knowledge Base to prepare the USB stick. When I was typing the format command in the elevated prompt window my hand slipped and I accidentally hit Enter before the command was completely typed which caused the whole process to freeze and the only option I had was to close the window (I could not even type Exit) and start over.

When I got to the end and after typing in the format command and hitting enter I received a message that there was a "Virtual Disk Service error: a concurrent second call being made on an object before that first is completed." (screenshot attached)

How do I now fix this error, prepare the usb stick and create the Rescue Media without getting another partition error?

Would it be better to use Rufus to create this if that is an option?

    Please advise...

    Thank you,

    Danny

Have you tried rebooting the machine and then inserting the flash drive again?
