In any case, I wholeheartedly recommend you geeks to spend a few bucks and get a Home license. That's money well spent, investment in your future security and peace of mind.

Thank you, Kari. And well said! Developers of wonderful software need support (i.e. money) to keep up their good work.

Ice Hockey World Championships, my big passion, and quite serious allergic reaction to my first Covid vaccine have caused delays in everything I had planned.

Tutorial will be updated / rewritten within next 24 hours. My apologies for the delay.

Godspeed on your recovery from the reaction. It is worrisome so please let us know that you're okay.

Kari I am not that savvy so when I have the Macrium Free version do I clone the C: drive to my D: drive or just image it for backing up if I want to restore Windows 10 from Windows 11?

If you just want to restore back to your C: drive then the simplest way is to do an image rather than a clone. You will need to create a rescue disk to do the restore as you can't restore a running Windows system.

Take a look at Cloning vs Imaging: What's the Difference? | N-able for a description between the 2. Either will work. If you make changes to your documents, photos, etc. while you have Windows 11, then cloning won't restore those.

Cloning is faster. It's an exact copy of the source. The way I understand it is that cloning is usually used when the objective is to have a duplicate of that HDD - for whatever reason. Imaging takes longer but is usually used to restore your system to a particular state from your previous backup images. Imaging also has the advantage of being able to mount any image in your backup as an individual drive. So... that's how I interpret use cases.

For your purposes, creating a System Image with the backup image function is the way to go. Do not over-complicate it. Image backup and restore is designed for what you will need.
