Now this is nice, as anticipated driver change didn't work but windows did, Nevertheless I elected to try backup instead of fixing drivers. Booted from rescue USB and it even offered to restore backup all by itself. Took the offer and it finished in 16:40 minutes.

Gives you confidence in the backups. It's got me out of trouble more than once.

When you have a Full and a collection of Differentials at different dates, you can choose which date to go back to just by choosing which Differential to restore.

Yes, that's very good, saves on disk space a lot.

For the price of a Macrium licence you could save even more space.

A Differential backs up all the changes since the Full. As such, each Differential will tend to be larger than the previous one as more changes are made. You need the Full and any one Differential for the restore.

But an Incremental is only the changes since the last backup, whether that was the Full or an Incremental. You do need to keep all Incrementals though, the Full and all Incrementals up to the date you wish to restore will be needed.

I can't buy MR from here, no international card or any other (simple) way to do it.
How often do you guys make full backup ?

I'm not too keen on Incrementals. It only takes one corrupt file to bring down a whole chain. I tend to use them sparingly to do a before and after.

I guess it should be enough to keep just couple or 3 of last differential backups. That won't task disk space much.

It's probably overkill, but full backup every Saturday and differentials on all other days. Backups are timed for 17:00 just an hour before Redmond wakes up and releases goodies.
