    3. Yes if you add MR rescue in windows BOOT.
if I choose to add MR rescue in windows boot, can I remove it from windows boot later? if so how?

    4. Normally you will create rescue media on a small flash drive and boot from there to restore your image. MR will take care of any special formatting of the flash drive for you, any data on the flash drive will be lost.
So I should plug in both USB and portable HDD to laptop and boot from USB, then select the backup image from portable HDD while in rescue mode? I should be able to see portable HDD plugged in right? otherwise how do I select the backup image to restore from

Yes that is correct. MR will usually present a list of any images it finds on the portable drive so you won't normally have to search for them.

Yes MR provides a method for both creating the boot entry and removing it.

Sometimes the image to restore is not presented when you boot from rescue media. You will see a an option to browse for an image.

Not sure why it doesn't show but I've come across this so thought I would mention.

    Convert GPT to MBR

Also, diskpart will work I believe

Insert flash drive, open a Command Prompt and enter the following:

    Code:
    diskpart
    list disk
sel disk # (where # is the number of the USB flash drive you want to fix)
    clean
convert mbr (forgot this one, thanks @kado897)
    exit (leave diskpart)
    exit (close Command Prompt)

Rich, you missed a convert mbr command following the clean.
