I'd certainly want to keep more than 1 copy of any given image file. They are among your most valuable files, so why wouldn't you want to have a duplicate?

You may be better off using the extra space to make more frequent images. Just a thought.

Advantage of using 3 HDDs in rotation is you will have a standard Son, Father, Grandfather set of backups. Copying the same image to multiple HDDs gives you copies of the same image, not a timeline.

Thanks, should i copy the backedup file to the second hdd before i duplicate in Macrium ?

I will add use two USB thumbdrives for rescue media and alternate them when required to build new boot media. That way you always have a known working one. ( Macrium tells you when you should be rebuilding rescue media.)

I have a bunch of older gear and client gear and twice now when I created new rescue media over my old it has failed to work. You can go to their forum a see the issues with rescue media.

Quite true. 3 separate just makes it easier to visualize and if different scheduling is desired a necessity.

Question, when i put the "Alternative Locations" into use, will it then automatic make a copy onto another defined drive?

No it only makes the one image to the first location that it finds available.

If you have an image file named 4444.mrimg and want to "duplicate" it, you would not use Macrium. You'd just copy it to another folder as if it were a photograph.
