One should not confuse the logical file structure with how the data is actually written to the drive. Macrium Reflect is very clever, and I have never experienced problems with Rapid Delta Restore - at worst it just says (in effect) "too complicated can't do it, doing a full restore" which has happened to me a couple of times

I could see Change Block Tracker being problematic perhaps, but as others have pointed out, that feature is rather pointless on a domestic pc, so I always turn it off.

Me too. I remove it from the install completely.

You can also look at the schedule definitions in Windows task scheduler but I wouldn't make any changes there or MR may get confused.

As for the defrags before the diffs I wouldn't. I think that would make your diffs larger.

I'd really appreciate a look at my post #393 from two days ago for a description of what I did in my first attempt at scheduling. If Macrium does it for me, I may have to delete the Macrium schedule and the tasks I created in Scheduler and start over. Two steps forward, one step back works for me.

The reason for the confusion: After the original backup went wrong I started over but I didn't delete the xml file so Macrium was running two different backup schedules: 'my backup.xml' & 'main backup.xml'. When I deleted the original it all worked as expected.
Prior to re-running the backup I decided to move my data files (Documents, Music, Pictures etc) to a different drive following the Tenforums instruction: 'How to Move Your Documents Folder Location in Windows 10' in order to reduce the time the Macrium backup takes. However, this wasn't quite successful as it left the Documents & Music folders in Users on C: drive, although it also copied them to my other drive. However , that's a seperate problem.
So now as I say, Macrium is now performing a full backup weekly & a daily diff.

The way I handle moving data files is to transfer all the data onto separate drives and integrate the new locations using libraries. I have never been comfortable with relocating the actual document locations

If you go to Other Tasks->Add Recovery Boot Menu Option... You get a dialog to determine the type of menu. The top option is No Menu.
