Backup and Restore with Macrium Reflect

What does the red color of the space usage bar (or whatever it's called) shown for a partition under the "Create a backup" tab signify? I've looked through the Macrium help docs (user guide and help), and do not find any explanation of the significance of the red color (or any other color, for that matter). An example of this red color is also found in the user guide, as shown in the following image:

Like this example from the user guide, my disk (an SSD system disk) shows this red color on the bar for the last partition, on the right.

I think it is a 90% full warning.

Thanks. Is the other partition that is 100% "full" and shown with a blue bar shown with that blue color instead of red because it's unformatted? (BTW, my Macrium Reflect shows the same thing for a "full", unformatted partition---blue color, not red.)

The unformatted partition is empty of data so blue would be the logical colour.

Thanks, but I'm not following your thinking regarding blue being a "logical" color for a partition with no data. The other partitions (1,2, and 4) *do* have data, and they are the same blue color.

Simply universal red is warning. The special case is the 128 MB partition which shows as full when it is empty. You cannot even see this partition normally from disk management. Macrium does not warn it as red simply because there is no user action ever needed on it.

Thank you very much for this tutorial. Last night I dumped Acronis and downloaded Macrium free edition. Now I have a clean install image saved with all my programs setup saved. Never need to format windows again. I got my other disks backed up as well. Also made me a bootable USB drive and added Macrium to the boot menu as well.

That partition is a System Reserved Partition, assigned by Windows. It has no file system associated with it, no drive letter, no way for a user to access (safely). So, if there is no way to use it, add to it, delete from it, or otherwise user modify it, it is for all practical purposes full to the user. And blue because there is no reason to warn the user about space when it is an untouchable partition.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. It just seems to me that as a matter of logical consistency, they should've used a different (i.e., neither blue nor red) color to indicate the condition/status of an unformatted partition---gray, for example. Anyway, thanks again.

This great program helped me again. After useless Googling (had the nerve to push malware virus ridden download updater) when I had issues with my USB 3.0 not working anymore (USB 2.0 devices connect fine) I restored a real early image finding out that my USB 3.0 Hub is failing and USB 3.0 devices worked fine on all my other ports I was able to then restore my most recent image.

I then knew I had to order a new USB 3.0 Hub. If not for this program I would have wasted my time reinstalling Windows just to find this out and then waste over 6 hours half the night getting everything back the way I like it.
