Backup and Restore with Macrium Reflect

I'm cautious, if I have got all I need on the rescue USB, because of the above, so am providing a screen shot of what is on the rescue USB, so I become confident that it is bottable amd generally usable.

You won't know if it boots until you try. Go for it.

You need to boot from it and see if you can locate the image you have created.

The 500 MB increased to around 850 MB once Winpe 10 was introduced.

That usb set up looks perfect.

What I would do if you really want to test it safely is this:-

Create a tiny partition eg 1 GB by shrinking C drive slight, and copy just a few files to new partition.

Then backup whole pc to an image file.

After that delete that small partition only, boot from usb drive, and restore just that partition.

If that works fine, you now everything is working ok. Then you can delete that small partitition, and re-expand C drive.

Thanks for the great tutorial, Kari. It made "swallowing the medicine" a lot easier.

First complaint > Because I dual boot I have limited space on my SSD. I chose to install it on my secondary drive, but it created a lot of folders on my C: drive, then spews files all over my system. I thought it would be a utility like UUPtoISO that grabbed what it needed off the other drive to do it's thing.

It is the best of it's kind available.

I can restore an image in less than 2 minutes. MS's restore took forever.

You know that you can use Macrium Reflect as portable app, too? You of course lose the ability to run scheduled backups as well as making backups in the background while doing other stuff on PC , but if that's OK for you, Reflect can be uninstalled as soon as you have created the Macrium Rescue media.

When uninstalled, you just need to boot from Macrium Rescue USB / CD / DVD to backup or restore.
