Backup and Restore with Macrium Reflect

There is an option on the left hand side which will select the partitions needed to recover Windows.

Just one more thing. *Columbo voice* Does the XML file have to be in the same folder as the IMG file? It's placing the XML file on my C drive but if my C drive dies it would be useless to have it there. Or?

XML definition file usually by default gets stored in your Documents/Reflect folder. That folder will also be included in the Image Backup, along with all else. If the drive dies or other catastrophe, you will use the Rescue Media to restore from the backup drive to a new drive. The Rescue Media is created as part of the installation and can be updated and re-done any time. So, if you have not created a rescue media, it is advised to do so.

Sorry, i was away from the computer. f14tomcat is correct it is stored separately. The xml file holds the backup definition. If you wish to run the same backup again it saves you having to recreate it. You can just highlight the definition in the definition files tab and run it from there. You can also use the definition file to create scheduled backups.

I used to do what all of you here do as a support team on some private forums and was even a Microsoft Guide(As far as I know Guides don't exist now) years ago and have been a technician since 1985. I used to create my own methods for fixing things, had my own business and whatnot and did things by thinking wayyy outside of the box but as mentioned I have cognitive issues now and I get confused even regarding basic problems. Hi Keith, I was going to add the Macrium bootable menu to my new MB/W10 install, is the extra boot time the only downside? It's got all that TPM secure stuff.
