    After doing the Remove My PC Folders for my win 10 pro 64 bit I can not longer change a new folder name. It says that the file can not be found. I have Version 1803, build 17134.285. Anyone experience this and have a solution?

    Hello @drburdi,

    Which option did you use?

    Did using the restore option undo and fix this for you?

    Thank you for the quick reply. I did not answer right away because I was hoping that I could get back to where I use to be able to change folder names by redoing the removals. I have been working on this for months and even found your old and new files (it has changed since then so I even used the Part 2 files with no success, but it did work on my other computer with same windows setup) while trying other recommendations without success. Just now I tried to use a registry backup to go back from build 285 to 256. It did go back but still can't change new folder names. Now registry program is mess up since it will not read other backups. Now trying to install/repair using flash drive which has bld 285 on it. Haven't completed yet. Any thoughts?

    @drburdi,

    This shouldn't be related to the issue you are having.

    If you like, see if downloading and merging the .reg files for the folder and directory items in Option Two below may help after a restart.

    Just finished reinstalling Version 1803 Bld 112 and noticed that my System Restore was turned off so I turned it back on and ran a restore point. Then I hit System Restore to what I had there and the program takes several minutes like before to load. I see only one restore point that I just did. Folders still can't be renamed. Does that mean that my associations are mess up and need to do what you suggest?

    Could be. It would be worth trying what I posted above to see if it may help.

    I downloaded all the extension files and merge (why since installing by double clicking on a .reg file works?) the install of the .reg file, restarted. No change - file still can't be renamed and clicking on System Restore takes 2 minutes (5 seconds on another computer) to open the box -Restore System Files & Settings. Any other recommendations?

    Forgot to mention that I did option 1 first.

    If this is an issue of not being able to rename all folders instead of just specific ones, then you could try doing a repair install to fix it.

    Wow, did a repair install and still can't change the name of a new file. I hate to ask, what is the next step?

    Looks like you have tried the whole gamut of fixits that are usually recommended, even a Repair Install. If Repair Install won't do it, and it's the last non-destructive option, time for "bite the bullet". Make sure you have all your personal data, keys, 3rd party app installers, anything you want to keep copied off somewhere safe. Not important how you do that, copy/paste to an external or large enough thumb drive is probably easiest.

    Sounds gruesome, but at some point you have to weigh time/effort spent versus results. All just IMO. TC
