Windows 10: Add or Remove Folders from This PC in Windows 10
I simply tossed the default folders in favor of the ones in particular I am likely to open such as moving new shortcut from the Desktop to a quick launch type tool bar(speaking of other guides not seen lately?) added onto the main task bar, the admin account folder rather then just the documents and downloads but the entire thing as well as the temp folder I use for anything as well as a "on the local drive" type file storage folder rather then constantly seeing the need to copy files over from another drive which doesn't even take up 20gb of drive space.
Now since the Quick Access has to be opened after you click to open any Explorer window(s) the view is plain and simple when getting rid of those six annoyances right above the drives!
Hi @Brink, is it possible to just remove the shortcuts from the tree view pane on the left and leave them on the main window?
If you find the folders on the local drive you can simply unpin them from the Quick Access there and pin them in the Start. You can actually stack quite a few folders by right clicking on the Start item to resize and choose the small option to condense the entire group of tiles there. For example I have folder reserved for VHDs for VM projects I can pin to the Start and resize it to blend in with a number of other items.
The script doesn't work. I did that command but no luck.
Hey Nick @swarfefa,
Yes, you should be able to use the .reg file below to do so, but you will need to change the owner and permission of each key in the .reg file first for it to work.
Thanks Sean. Is there an undo reg file for that?
You're welcome. It'll just be a matter of changing the data value of the "System.IsPinnedToNameSpaceTree" DWORDs.
0 = hide
1 = show
Well I tried merging the reg file but it said it couldn't import it.
Yep, you'll have to change the owner of each key in the .reg file to "Administrators first, and set permissions of each key to "Allow" Administrators "Full control" before the .reg file will successfully fully merge.
