Brick. Sorry to keep bugging you about this. I re-set it again to 1680x1050 at 100% DPI and I have the task bar back. I can live with it this way for now. I do notice that most of the discussions on this issue involve making the display larger than 100%. In my case, I would like it smaller without losing the task bar. Thanks again. skh.
Do you have the latest graphics driver installed?
If not, this could be a reason why the default (recommended) screen resolution is not displaying properly for you.
Displaying my ignorance here, I'm not sure what a graphic driver is or how to update it. My computer is brand new. The monitor is 2 years old.
In that case, please go ahead and create a new thread for this issue for us to continue there so we don't go off topic anymore from this tutorial. :)

However , I double checked the inch ruler via
Cntrl Pnl > Display > Advanced sizing of text and other items
_ set a custom scaling level (not recommended)

Even did regedit 'As Administrator' _ no change_
I remember that in W7 it would change , and get almost exact .

Just to verify, did you sign out and in or restart the computer afterwards to apply?
Looks like a change was made. I have updated OPTION THREE to add steps 6 and 7 that will allow it to work again. :)
