The Reg file for adding Dropbox to the navigation pane is very different from the Reg file for adding Google Drive to the navigation pane. Is that because there is already a CLSID defined for Dropbox and you have to generate and define one for Google Drive?

That is correct. The GUID was already added by Dropbox, so no need to create a new one for it.

You can use the same GUID for Dropbox in this tutorial for This PC.

Ok great. I will try adding DropBox as well this evening.

The Dropbox front end seems to install a link on the navigation pane. Does the modification add Dropbox to a different location?
I was able to add Dropbox to ThisPC, under network group, and successfully launches the shared folder. The registry text is below. Thanks!

    Great news.

Anything added to This PC will also get added to its group in the navigation pane.

    HI Brink

How do I remove Dropbox entry from the desktop folder (red box) while keeping the sub-entry in the This PC folder (black box)? Dropbox also appears on Network Locations of ThisPC window and I want to keep that link as well. Please see the attachment. Thanks in advance!

    Hello mate,

If you like, turning off "Show all folders" for the navigation pane like below will remove the Desktop section from the navigation pane.

Didn't work. I added Dropbox to the ThisPC subfolder with the registry hack in this thread. Now it shows up in Desktop and ThisPC. Is there a way to modify the registry to keep in ThisPC but remove from Desktop? Thanks! Add or Remove Dropbox from Navigation Pane in Windows 10-capture.png

Which .reg file did you use?

It should only add Dropbox as a shell folder to show under Desktop (if "Show all folders" is turned on) and a separate Dropbox section in the navigation pane.

Dropbox shouldn't show under "This PC" using the .reg file in the tutorial.

I installed the Dropbox App and the Dropbox folder shows up in the Navigation Pane under Desktop and "show all folders" was turned on. Then I added Dropbox using the Reg. entries below to add to ThisPC window but didn't intend for it to show up under ThisPC in the Navigation Pane. Does that help?
I attached pics to help illustrate

    @bamajon1974,

Adding it as a folder in "This PC" will also add it under "This PC" in the navigation pane.

I'm not sure how to remove it from the navigation pane without also removing it from "This PC".

That's ok. I can live with the duplication in File Explorer but to have links in ThisPC is handy as well. Thank you for your help.
