Great tutorial. Sometimes when Windows Explorer crashes, ctrl+alt+delete doesn't always open the Task Manager in time, or may it be unresponsive altogether when i need it most. This is a great workaround to that and saves time, thank you

Shawn, what about adding the Extend string key so you need to press the Shift key to see the Restart Explorer Context Menu entry?
Would be less clutter on the normal Context Menu.

    Hey Rich, :)

Sure that could be done if folks wanted. I just didn't do it since I figured that most folks may want it visible if added.

"Restart Explorer" in Desktop Context Menu Stopped Working

I reset Windows today, and now I can't get the process described in Restart Explorer Context Menu - Add in Windows 10 to work properly. I downloaded the ZIP file, I move the BAT file to Windows\System32, I double-clicked the REG file, and the "Restart Explorer" item appears in the menu, but when I select it all I get is this:
Restart Explorer Context Menu - Add in Windows 10-image-2016-04-21-17-17-23.png
I made sure that the BAT file and explorer.exe were in the correct folder and that they were spelled correctly. I don't really know what the BAT and REG files should look like, but I couldn't find any glaringly obvious errors.

(Also, I just discovered that it's possible for a message to get posted while you're still typing it.)

    Hello Greg, :)

It's still working fine for me, so let's see if we can figure out what went wrong for you. As a test, only run the .bat file to see if it works for you since this is what the context menu runs from inside the System32 folder.

I left out that I tried that, and the batch file closes Explorer, and launches File Explorer. It occurred to me while typing this that I should try uninstalling CubicExplorer to see what happens.

Thanks for the tutorial. I whittled it down to this though.
    Code:
    taskkill /f /im explorer.exe
    start explorer.exe
    exit

I unregistered CubicExplorer, added the menu item, and it worked. It still works even after registering CE as the default File Manager again. I don't know what went wrong, but it's not wrong now.
