Brink, Before updating to 1703, I turned WD back to on. This morning I turned it back to Off. With this version I am not seeing the group policy screen that appeared before when clicking to open defender. If I click to open WD from the WD Security center, nothing happens, it doesn't open. If I click to open WD from Settings/Updates and Security/WD, it brings me to the center.

I know WD is off as the security center shows it as off and MsMpEng.exe is not running. What I am asking is, is it normal that with this version I am not seeing the group policy screen as before when clicking to open WD?

    Greetings

    Bo

    Hello Bo, :)

Just to double check, do you have a 3rd party AV program installed? Sometimes these will disable (turn off) WD.

You wouldn't have Option One for group policy available since you have a W10 Home edition.

When you used Option Two, did you sign out and in afterwards to apply?

No third party AV. I turned off WD doing same process as before. With 1607 Ithe screen appeared as you can see in the attachments in one of my earlier posts. I am running as Administrator without password. I rebooted after turning WD off.

Thats the screen I saw before but I am not seeing now.

    Ah, ok I see.

You shouldn't see that message while just opening the Windows Defender Security Center, but instead only if you tried to open Windows Defender Antivirus instead.

When I try to open WD from the Center, nothing happens. If I try to open it from Settings, It brings me to he Center but the screen doesn't pop up open at any time. I know WD is off as the Center shows it as off and the process is not running but I dont understand why I am not seeing the screen.

Never mind, Brink. I created the shortcut as in the tutorial you linked. If I click the shortcut, the screen appears. So, I guess all is well. Thanks again.

    Hello khalid, :)

WD real-time protection is a different setting than turning off (disabling) WD.

Did you sign out and sign in to apply after using Option 2 to turn off WD from the first page?
