So, I guess processes MsMpEng.exe and MSASCuiL.exe keep running, right? I am also guessing turning off WD with the REG file in W10 will not be as effective as in W7?

Important. Other than not having to manually turn off WD every time I start the PC, do I gain anything else by turning off WD with the REG File?

Regarding using an AV. I havent used one in a long time. My security depends on Sandboxie. Any file, any program that runs in my computers, runs sandboxed every time they run during their lifetime in the computer.

    Thanks for your answers.

If you have the WD notification area icon still on, then MSASCuiL.exe will still keep running. If you turn off WD and turn off it's notification area icon, then neither should be running afterwards unless you manually open WD.

Personally, I would still recommend to keep WD turned on to have AV protection. Even a sandbox is not bulletproof.

Did it, afterward, clicking to open Windows defender wherever in the PC, gives me the expected screen but when hovering the browser over WD in the Notification area, it gives an unexpected Status protected, is that how thats supposed to be?

MsMpEng.exe went away after running the REG File and rebooting.. I guess turning the WD notification area icon is done in Task manager/Start?, am I correct? I ll leave it on, but would you please answer the questions I am asking in this post.

Correct for both. The tutorial below can give more details for turning off the WD notification area icon.

I am well protected, I just dont use scanners or many security applications. Last time I got infected was in 2008 when I still used antiviruses and didn't know any better.:)

Appreciate your help and kindness to reply. You are special. In a few days I ll test the turn on WD reg file to see how that works.

I reckon disabling WD this way wont interfere with Windows updates. Am I right? This really is my only concern regarding disabling WD as I wouldnt want errors or problems updating the PC due to disabling WD.
