    I have Windows 10 Home version 1903 , OS Build 18362.356

    Thaks everyone

    Hello FILKOSKI,

This is normal for the search index to update itself on a schedule by automatically rebuilding.

It takes a long time to finished since it runs slowly as a background process so as not to slow down the computer instead of running fast and hogging all the computer's resources.

If you don't use or need the index, you could disable it. You will still be able to search as usual, but it may take a bit longer for search results without the index.

I have a question, I notice that start menu and users keep disappearing, so I rebuilt the index, they came back, I reboot and they disappear again.. how can I fix this?

    Hello Steven,

Do you mean that Start menu and users keep disappearing from search results?

If so, you could disable search indexing to always have accurate search results since you don't have to worry about the index being up to date or not.

Could be a glitch since they come back after rebuilding the index.

Double check to make sure both Start Menu (C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu) and Users are still checked in your "Indexed Locations".

    A few questions for troubleshooting:

Any chance of being sign in to a temporary or guest account for the changes to not remain after a reboot? Does the same happen if you sign out and in?

Did you move these locations from their default locations?

Any 3rd party software installed that could be causing issues with this?

Theirs only one account which is mine
No files or folders have been moved

Doesn’t happen when I sign out but when I reboot it does, I just rebooted and indexing locations are empty

Only ccleaner is installed as 3rd party
