1 Is there a way to make runas also work for .bat ? (would be my choice then)
In the following way, "runas" works for .cmd, which works the same as .bat.

3 Is there a way just to have one sched task handling all the .bat it gets from the call of a desktop shortcut ?
Create an elevated shortcut to a .bat file which provides a list of options like this one: Screenshot

Each option can be either a set of codes or a single command for running a separate script file.

Thank you all ... it would be great if you have some more hints for me here:
mount/unmount external drive instead of internal drive automatically

Hello Matthew, I have downloaded your Create_an_elevated_shortcut.bat script, and it has allowed me to create an elevated command prompted by following your instructions. However I would like to pass parameters to the cmd window. I can't find any way to do this in the script - have I missed something? Is it possible?

I cannot use Task Scheduler, as every time I open it I see an MMC snap-in error.

Your script fills the bill perfectly, even more so if I can pass parameters to the invocation of cmd.exe

@John Dennis, can you post the parameters?

It was a pretty generic question. Different scripts require different parameters. In the most simple form a script might simply have "start" or "stop" as a parameter (to stop or start a database or web server for example), although there may also be scripts with multiple parameters separated by spaces.

@John Dennis, you may write all commands and parameters into a CMD file, e.g. %ProgramData%\John's script.cmd, and enter the file path into my batch script.

@Brink, it is possible to let users add arguments via a batch script, but then the script will become complicated. Do you think I should create such a script?

Thanks - a batch script for each option, each with it's own elevated shortcut. That will do the job.

Hello, I did this on my external sata SSD "WinUSB" and it worked fine with ThrottleStop. Now I'm trying it on my internal m2. Drive and it's not working. Steps:

    1. Download Batch, drag to desktop, and unlock it
    2. Run as Administrator
    3. Without Quotations type "ThrottleStop"
    4. Without Quotations type "C:\ThrottleStop\ThrottleStop.exe"
    5. Drag that new .exe to AppData - etc etc etc- Start Menu - Programs

This worked before, now its not. RealTemp is working for some reason but ThrottleStop does not start on boot. Also, I tried it a couple times and it said "already exists", so instead of ThrottleStop I added a space and named it Throttle Stop. I feel like there are conflicting files.

How do I start from Scratch and delete any files? Thanks!

Hello dracarys, and welcome to Ten Forums.

I'll bump @Matthew Wai to see if he may know more about the .bat file for this.

Have you already tried option 2 to see how it may work for this?
