    Hi all,
Finally, I created and tested the task to run IObit Uninstaller without UAC prompt

Indeed, the only difference is in the argument (see step 8: Edit Action).
    Program script: "C:\ Program Files (x86)\IObit\IObit Uninstaller\Uninstaler_SkipUac.exe"
    Add Argument: $ (Arg0)
I created its desktop shortcuts. It works like a charm

I even created a task for Symantec Endpoint Protection always with the argument $(Arg0), and the appropriate desktop shortcuts, it works very well too

Remains to be done: the shortcut of Symantec Endpoint Protection which is located in the Taskbar Notification area.
How to access to that shortcut?

    Regards

    Hello Coukou,

The notification area icon for that program would be controlled by the program.

If able, you could see if you may be able to turn off showing its notification area icon, and use a pinned shortcut on the taskbar instead.

    TNX for yr reply,
Unfortunately, I'm only able to hide SEP icon in the notification area. The desktop shortcut/icon can't be pinned in the notification area.

No. The shortcut can only be pinned to the taskbar instead.

Desktop shortcut without the UAC prompt?

It comes down to if the app is programmed to request for elevated rights (aka: "Run as administrator") to run.
If it does, then you'll get prompted by UAC.
I have a similar question. I have UAC set at the default & am signed in with my user account, which has administrator rights. I have shortcut keys for many apps like Microsoft Word 2003, Calculator, Search Everywhere, & ExplorerPlus which start without any UAC prompt...just as you've indicated.

But there are also apps, one called Bridge Buff 19 & one called Wilbur (which searches inside files for words), which causes a UAC prompt whether I use a shortcut key or not. They are not set to run as administrator.

Is there a way to get a simple shorcut key that will start these apps without the prompt?

    Hello phrab,

If you're using an elevated shortcut from this tutorial to run those programs and still getting a UAC prompt, then they may be calling to run another app file that is causing the UAC.

Thank you for your quick reply. No, I'm sorry. I didn't use the Task Scheduler at all, so perhaps I've asked this in the wrong place. This is just a normal shortcut that you place on the desktop & then move to the start menu.

In that case, you could use the method in the tutorial on the first page to create an elevated shortcut that will let you run it without getting a UAC prompt.

    Hi Shawn:
Well, I made a task in the task manager for a game called "Bridge Buff 19". I can go to the task manager, right click it, & choose run...it opens without a UAC prompt. Even if I close the game, the status in the task manager still says "running", as opposed to "Ready". However, I created the shortcut you showed & I get the prompt "Do you want to let this app make changes to your computer". The app is "Task Scheduler Configuration Tool". I'm not sure what I did wrong.

Edited: I just tried it again & made sure I had
    /c start "Bridge Buff 19" "C:\Program Files (x86)\Bridge Buff 19\Bridge Buff 19\Bridge Buff\bb19.exe"
but now it won't even start when I click Run in the task manager.

Games are a different animal when it comes to this. Their shortcuts often call other files to run that are not covered by the elevated shortcut causing this not to work with it.
