I remember the old system where I could select colors for almost everything. While it did have its problems if I selected a wrong color combo and the letters were the same color as the bar they were on, it did help and was useful.

    Anything like that around ?
    You could try this:

    1) Select Custom in "Choose your color".

    2) Select Dark for Choose your default Windows mode.

    3) Select Light for Choose your default app mode.

    4) Check the Start, taskbar, and action center box.

    5) Select a color you want under "WIndows colors".

    6) Turn on or off Transparency effects depending on if you want a solid color or transparent color.

I think I did try that for at least the theme I am currently using.

When I find time I can redo all of my themes, I like to change them up, and save them with the new settings.

I may be doing it incorrectly, but I think several I tried that on my screen locked up temporarily and I couldn't get custom to do anything. I'll be more careful next time and take notes so I can check myself and prevent mistakes on my part.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Lets see. I created a theme with everything I want it to look like; picture background, custom colors, dark default Windows mode, light default app mode. Transparency on. check marked are: Star, task bar, and action center and Title bars and window borders.

I go back to Themes. Click on Save. It wont let me type anything in. The save window for the them name closes.

I tried to type in theme70.

Already have 46 themes, including the themes that come with Win 10.

    Any ideas ?

You might double check the steps in the tutorial below to see if anything may stand out.

Interesting. Today I just repeated what I did above, and it worked. The save them window let me type in it. Saved it. Sometimes a computer does what it pleases.

Went to a different theme, and used it. Systray, etc. changed color. Went to the theme I just saved, it changed back to what I wanted it to look like.

So it looks like i just redo all of them and that will fix it.

What the hell is this!? I tried to fix the blocked box thing, and when I ran the file I downloaded, the whole taskbar is blank - only colour is there!! I can't even access the desktop! Everything is a solid colour, except two small tabs that are rectangular shaped! How am I supposed to fix this!?
I can't even access the windows start by pressing the windows key!

Hello isinerep, and welcome to Ten Forums.

When you run the .bat file from this tutorial, part of its action is restarting the explorer.exe process to apply.

It sounds like something interfered with restarting the explorer.exe process leaving you without explorer.exe running.

Restart explorer.exe Process in Windows 10

    Here's how to fix this:

    1) Press the Ctrl+Shift+Esc keys to open Task Manager.

    2) In Task Manager. click on File (menu bar), and click on Run new task.

    3) Type explorer in the "Create new task" dialog, and click on OK.
