Hello elmagiko, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

It's normal to see "To Be Filled by O.E.M." under Devices for your PC if it's a self built computer and not an OEM computer.

As long as Windows on your PC says that it's activated with a digital license linked to your MSA, you're good to go.

I noticed that it only seems to be OEM PCs and virtual machines show all the information in Devices, but not self built systems.

If you search the registry for "To Be Filled By O.E.M.", you'll see that none of it is filled out for self built systems to show in Devices.

It's possibly this question it's already present in this thread:
I have a asus desktop pc and i have a unknow license on it (unknow because i don't know it and i don't have a cd/dvd if i want to reformat my pc) but now i have connected/create a microsoft account and i have the message says i have a digital license connected to my microsoft account.

Whit this i thinks if i need to reformat my pc i can simply obtain a ISO of windows 10 home over internet... i can put it on a pendrive and i can reformat completely my pc and after that i can simply login to my microsoft account for reobtain and reactivate windows ??

Yeah.. but if i want to pass to windows 10 pro ?? I can use the same microsoft account or i need to create another microsoft account ? And if i pass to windows 10 pro i lost the currently windows 10 home license or on a microsoft account it's possibly to add to many license at same time ?

It's exist a way to manage this license ?

    Hello Dj, :)

You might see if using the method in the tutorial below may help find your product key.

Product Key - View in Windows 10

Since your Windows shows that it is activated with a digital license linked to your Microsoft account (MSA) for this PC, you'll be able to reinstall Windows and have it activated when you setup Windows with your MSA. If Windows Setup asks for a key, you can skip entering it to have it activate later with the linked digital license when you sign in with your MSA.

If you upgrade to W10 Pro on the same PC, it's product key will also be linked as a digital license for the PC. I haven't tested to see what happens with the Home license, but it should remain linked to your MSA for the PC as well. However, I would imagine that the latest activated license is what will be used for the PC though.

I would recommend to see if you can see the product key for W10 Home first to be able write it down in case you want to use it again on the PC. If your W10 Home is an OEM license, you'll only be able to use it on that PC and not on any other PC.

Hi guys. I have a question about Windows 10 activation.

Recently I upgraded my PC, and that included changing the MoBo. I installed W10 Pro (I had that one from the free upgrade), and it wasn't activated. I forgot to link my old PC with an MS Account, so I couldn't activate it. Luckily, I had a spare SSD, so I installed W10 Pro on my old PC where it was activated, added an MS Account and went back to the new one.

Now I managed to activate it using the Troubleshooter. My new pc is activated, and I swapped back to the Local Account (I like it more than MS account).

The main question I have now is - is my new motherboard now linked to the Windows 10 Pro? In other words, if I reinstall Windows 10 Pro again on the same hardware, will it be activated without needing to link the MSA before the installation and after the installation?
I'm aware that if I change my hardware again, I need to link my MSA on the old one before upgrading. I'm also aware that if the MoBo dies while my MS Account isn't linked, I can't reactivate Windows on the new one anymore.

I'm just wondering is it safe to reinstall W10 on this hardware now, without having to worry about MSA.

Also, is it possible to keep my license linked to my MSA, while using Local Account? It seems that whenever I swap to local account, the MSA digital license gets removed.

    Ty in advance!

Hello spdr, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

If it shows Windows is activated with a digital license linked to your Microsoft account on the Activation page, then the product key (license) used on your new motherboard (PC) is linked to your MSA and will automatically activate if you should do a clean install and setup using the same MSA.

    Thank you for your answer.

It used to show that until I swapped back to my Local Account. Now it just says that Windows is activated with a digital license.

So, if I reinstall my Windows on this same hardware WITHOUT adding an MSA first, will the Windows still be activated?
