    I once named the drives in Explorer, the "Disconnected..." text was replaced with the names but the red Xs were retained (that's cute of you, Explorer). I do not know whether the replacements survived across multiple Explorer sessions during that Windows session, but I know that they did not survive through logoff/on.
    Odd. You might see if removing the mapped drives and remapping them may sort it.

    I had to do that a month ago, just to regain access that had been unproblematic since original mapping long ago. And the remapped appearance in Explorer was normal, I think until very recently.

    Might be a timing thing, Explorer over-reacting to a little lag then tenaciously clinging to its knee-jerk decision of "Disconnected".

    I will redo it; we'll see for how long it lasts.
