That is interesting David. It sounds similar to a custom reset image.

Yes I think the provisioning packages are as near an approximation as you can get to a custom reset. It's not quite the same but has a similar effect.
And you can create provisioning packages yourself, although it's apparently best to run in Audit Mode while the machine is still new. (Which reminds me I could tweak my Tutorial with a couple of new features in the '1607' version of the ADK tools.)
The provisioning packages also get copied onto a Recovery Drive (when it works) so a reinstall from a recovery drive will install the software as well as Windows.

Good morning Brink! As I am reviewing this tutorial I noticed a duplicate screenshots on numbers 5 and 8 here, where number 8 you are supposed to click start.

Otherwise, I hope your day is off to a great start! I appreciate this awesome tutorial. Keep up the great work!

    Hi Brink,
This tool won't downgrade editions, like from Pro to Home, right?

    TIA

    Hello Sumit,

Correct, it will not downgrade the edition.

It's basically like doing a refresh, or reset depending on what you select at step 4 if using Option 2.

Brink; when this Tutorial says it will 'Start fresh with a clean and up to date installation of Windows', will this also upgrade the version ?
Example, computer has 1803, Repair Upgrade and Upgrade Assistant both fail. Will Fresh Start tool in Option 2, removing apps but keeping files, upgrade it to 1903 or reinstall 1803 ? Thanks !
