I added the GUID {3935ea0f-5756-4db1-8078-d2baf2f7b7b2} found in the registry file for this tutorial. I will try adding both Google Drive and Dropbox to this PC on my laptop this evening.

I managed to get custom shortcuts to display in Win+X menu. Create a shortcut into Group 1, 2 or 3 folders of %LocalAppdata%\Microsoft\Windows\WinX directory path, use hashlnk.exe to make the shortcut valid, and restart the shell. However, the desktop.ini file in each Group 1, 2 or 3 folder isn't modified. What is the purpose of the desktop.ini file and should I manually add the custom shortcut entry to this file as well? It looks like some sort of ordering list and link to icons but none are displayed. Thanks!

I managed to get Google Drive added to navigation pane and This PC. One thing you might want to add to the tutorial is, after installing Backup and Sync, be sure to go sync Google Drive remote folders to the local drive so that the %userfolder%/<name>/Google Drive folder is created so the links created in explorer work. You might also want to add the 64-bit version of the reg file to the tutorial as well.

Adding Google Drive to This PC network section registry modification is below.

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

; Add Google Drive to 64-bit This PC

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{3935ea0f-5756-4db1-8078-d2baf2f7b7b2}]

No need to do anything with the desktop.ini file since this is appearing in a menu instead of a folder, but here's a link below from Microsoft for more info about the desktop.ini file.

Sorry, for some reason two different thread replies were added to this thread. The comment about the Win+X menu was meant to go to another thread. Did you see the reply about this thread, the Google Drive Nav. Pane and This PC links?

I'll have to think about a separate tutorial for adding Google Drive to This PC.

The problem is that would get applied to all users, but it would reference the GUID for a specific user. Could be a problem.

    Hi Brink

I'd like to add both of my Google Drive folders to my navigation pane.

My Google Drives are called Google - CF and Google - NCC

These are located respectively at C:\Users\Caroline\Google - CF and C:\Users\Caroline\Google - NCC

Could you work your magic for this to happen?

    Many thanks once again

    Caroline

    Hello Caroline,

I would be honored. I created custom .reg files for you below that will add the two Google Drives to your navigation using your specific paths and names ("Google - CF" and "Google - NCC") you wanted.

Please let me know if you have any issues, requests, or questions for it.
