Option 3 would, but you don't have as much control like you would using option 7 with WUA Manager.
I applied the registry modification outlined for disabling Windows Update (Enable or Disable Windows Update Automatic Updates in Windows 10 and the registry modifications in this tutorial as well). Unfortunately, after I deployed the Windows 10 Education (version 20H2, build 19042.928) image, Windows Update began installing the drivers.

I will try the other option of disabling the DLL for my next test.

Will you try the option below?
Using CMD script and VBScript to control Windows Update

It applies also to driver updates.

There is another way to disable unwanted driver updates if the known procedures don't work.
Simply putting a minus in front of wuuhext.dll in the registry works well for me.
    Code:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsUpdate\UpdateHandlers\Driver]
    "DLL"="-wuuhext.dll"
It is necessary to take ownership of the registry hive before the change to 'wuuhext.dll' can be made.
Thanks for this. Was the only method that stopped LTSC from downloading drivers
Tried everything from registry entries to group policy edits

I had exclude drive update activated and tried to deactivate it and cannot with either group policy or the registry.

Finally found the problem, there is one more way to exclude drivers "System properties > Hardware> Device installation settings > No".

Someone elsewhere says: "The text on this has changed to "Do you want to automatically download manufacturer's apps and custom icons available for your devices?" with "Yes (recommended)" and "No (your device might not work as expected). This has no effect on Windows Update installing drivers and does not prevent it."

Are you sure it keeps Windows Update from installing drivers?

I was speaking specifically about the setting that rdwray was referring to, and asking him if it still keeps Windows Update from installing drivers, given that the message isn't even the same anymore. I'm not looking for generic ways of doing this. I don't see any mention of that specific setting in the first thread you linked to. If it's mentioned in the second thread you linked to, that's great, but you linked me to the beginning of a 276 page thread, so that doesn't help to find any specific mention of that setting.

A tutorial is a tutorial. It doesn't matter how many individual posts are tagged on after it.

Does this work on home edition? Does this not create an infinite loop by WU forever searching for the non-existing file? I mean, putting a minus sign to a path..

Don't worry, it works fine for me on Win10 home edition.
