Hi Brink - replying here rather than in original forum. I did your suggested regedit (also including ShellFolder in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\CLSID\{018D5C66-4533-4307-9B53-224DE2ED1FE6}, but no effect. I then downloaded your <Remove_OneDrive_from_Navigation_Pane.bat> and signed in to my admin account and ran the file. This worked well and removed OD from the nav pane. However, when I logged back into my standard account, OD returned. Even if I open File Explorer as administrator, the OD icon remains. May be a lost cause?

    Jon,

If you don't use OneDrive, then you could see if disabling OneDrive integration in addition may help.

I use OD for my daily back-up. I keep my OD folder on an SD card, and sync my data drive to it each evening. I almost never need to open my OD folder on the card, but if I do it is easily found in File Explorer. So I certainly need to keep OD functioning.

I'm afraid that I haven't found a reason why it's no longer being applied to all users anymore yet.

Sure curious why it would work in Admin and not in Standard. I just hope that MS will before long give us back control over File Explorer. Or I will have to install Total Commander! Which would be a pity as mainly I like FE. Except that since W7 it limits column width to 80 pixels.

Downloaded - 'fraid it still doesn't work for me in my standard account. Though I only signed out. If it works after reboot, will get back to you. But doubt it!

It works for me in all accounts, but it's only applied to the account it was merged in. You'll need to merge it in each account if you haven't already.

How do you mean "merged in". I am logged in as a standard user, and need to OK UAC to undertake any action requiring admin privileges. Your file I downloaded <Remove_OneDrive_from_Navigation_Pane.reg> runs without UAC - but I cannot tell what is its impact, but it does not kill the OneDrive icon.

OD is actually not that big a deal, as it only takes up one row of File Explorer and is not visible once you click your data drive which then occupies the whole left-hand pane. However, I would sooner kill it. Happy to continue the conversation if you have time, but will understand if you think not worthwhile. Jon

When you merge the .reg file while signed in to a standard account, you should still have to OK it, but you shouldn't get a UAC prompt since the .reg file doesn't require elevation to modify that location in the registry. The blue note box below OPTION TWO shows you want the .reg file modifies in the registry if you wanted to manually verify if it has been successfully changed in the registry.
