Hello! I have a somewhat similar problem, and can't find a working solution anywhere.

The thing is, I don't get a notification "You've been logged in a temp. profile", and [WIN]+[R] "%UserProfile%" opens my profile loader.

However, I can't open any ms-settings: link (be it by clicking in the menu or typing into start->run...)

and by using some recommended instructions in Powershell I get an error, to which a solution is, quote: "perhaps you are logged in with a temporary profile".

    Also when running a startmenu.diagcab from http://aka.ms/diag_settings
    I get:

Restarting of course doesn't work. I tried creating a new profile, but it didn't do a trick.

I'm using a lot of apps, like FTP client, SVN client, flashdevelop etc. so I'm desperately trying to not reinstall and need to reconfigure (or backup and restore settings of) all of this...

Floor; "By start up Windows I see the name Paula. " From post #190, isn't this the one you want ? You should now have the same reg entries as mine in #194 (sorry, I didn't see your screenshots prior) with 3 short ones and the long one corresponding to 'Paula' in the right panel.

"I renamed it, remove both and restart" .... "now I have only three the three short ones and the long one is gone.."
You were not supposed to remove both, just the one w/o the .bak (bad name), THEN simply remove the .bak from same entry # (corresponding to Paula). See Step 8 in Post #1 tutorial and my screenshot in #194 (see how long entry w/o .bak is retained after orig with same # is gone and my desired name is in right panel ?). Not sure how computer restarted w/o the long entry, as this would be the device profile. Do you have any User files, like Music under This PC ? I pray for you that these weren't deleted and you have backup.

Perhaps Brink can help you restore the long registry value. The only way I know how is that, if you have a restore point, use it to restore the orig registry with all the errors, now that you know how to fix and what it should look like. And hopefully, your files are still there.

    Hello Brink!
I fixed the images above. Before, I would click on the image icon in the editor, choose "from URL" tab, and then paste the imgur URL there, but nothing would appear - no link, no text, no image. So I decided to just put links to my images, but then the first link didn't work for some reason (it works if you copy-paste it, but when you click it the colon from https:// is gone).

I went into the tutorial you supplied, but Enhanced Attachment Uploading off didn't fix the issue. I simply had to deselect Retrieve remote file and reference locally (required) when inserting an image - I didn't try that earlier because it says it's required.

I could find the files and made a backup, the account Paula is still there. There is no restore point.

Just tried this: In regedit I made a new key under Profilelist with the numbers I had here on a printscreen. On the right side of that panel I made the ProfileImagePath with C:\Users\Paula.
Restart Windows and I come a little bit further...Windows starts again I still can not push the start Windows button but i have explorer icon again . When i go to the register there is a long line again with all the values but the c\users\Paula has become again a different name.
Can not make a printscreen yet because all the apps are gone..

    Update: I am back where I started...see pictures # 191 and # 192.
I now tried step 8, restart and i get again that i have a temp profile. Also I'm still not able to push the start button.

Maybe one of you can help me
