    Hi~~!

    Thanks for the help!
I dont know why but, this method didn't work for me...
First, this happened to me logging into my Microsoft account, after a reset, all my windows 10 config are gone and getting that pop-up of temporary account window, so I decided to log in with a local account instead. With the name of "TEST" but my registry says that my current folder path is (C:\Users\TEMP.DESKTOP-PB8V9VR) instead of (C:\Users\TEST) idk if that make sense, anyways I've been here hours and hours without a solution...

I'll put some captures so, you guys can help me easly..

I'm logged with a Local Account (NOT Microsoft account). The original User was (C:\Users\minsu)
I navigate in the registry and found this:

Do step 12, sing out and try to sing in without success

Sorry for my bad english, and thank you for helping people like me. :)

Hello @Minsu, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

Just to verify, you were using a Microsoft account that used the "C:\users\minsu" profile folder, and later switched the account to be a local account named "test"?

If so, the local account would still use the same "C:\users\minsu" profile folder.

If you still have both "1001" and "1000.bak" SID keys for the account, then try step 12 again using C:\users\minsu as the full path for the ProfileImagePath value, and make sure that the State DWORD is set to 0.

Hello @hidde, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

Please go ahead and post screenshots showing your Registry Editor settings for this, and inside your "C:\Users" folder to see what we're working with.

Thanks for your help @Brink!!!! Fix You've been signed in with a temporary profile in Windows 10-hulp2.jpgFix You've been signed in with a temporary profile in Windows 10-hulp.jpg

As you can see in the screenshots my accounts are Hidde and HiddeDESKTOP....... My main account was Hidde and that was where the problem started, but after I rushed and deleted the wrong file (I deleted the ex: S-1-5-21-....-1001.bak instead of the ex: S-1-5-21-....-1001 and because of that the HiddeDESKTOP... was created). But now as you can see the files in Hidde are all gone and the documents that are in HiddeDESKTOP.... all empty, so I dont know where all my files, documents, etc. are.
    Thanks for your help!

    hidde,

Did you do anything prior to getting this temp profile error that may have affected your "C:\Users\Hidde" profile folder in any way?

For now, let's see if using step 10 in the tutorial to restore the "C:\Users\Hidde" path may help. Be sure to also set the RefCount and State DWORDs to 0 (number zero) as well.

    Hey Brink and everyone else,
I had this problem and tried the tutorial, signed out, signed back in and it repeatedly took me back to the temp account. I was growing frustrated so after finishing the tutorial for the nth time instead of just signing out, I restarted the whole thing. Bingo! That was the last step my laptop needed.

Thank you very much, this tutorial is gold!

Hey Brink, Thanks for the response on my one post that lead me to here. I'm in the process of following the directions but before I go any further I just need to ask something before I continue as I don't want to do something and end up messing up all together. So there are 3 usernames on my computer (me, my mom, and brother) which all 3 of them are administrator. All 3 of them happen to be on a temporary profile now, well only 2 now as I got my name fixed. However my question here is under the registry editor there are only two only 2 SID folders:

The one ending in 1004 is my name which I fixed already as there's no bak there. I'm confused though to the one above ending in 1000. There's two more names on my desktop that still need to be fixed, yet there's only one folder with an SID there to be fixed. How can both users be fixed where there's just one? I'm on my mom's name by the way as I'm trying to fix hers to be back to her regular user. If I fix her's under the 1000 SID then how can my brother's username be fixed when there's not another folder under there? If I log on his name to try to fix and get rid of the temporary user will an SID come up for him in command prompt when I put his name, as well as will a folder come up for him or no? I'm really confused.

    Hello KC, :)

You can do step 12 for your Mom's 1000 and 1000.bak SID keys.

If your bother's SID is the one with "4004696415", then you could use step 10 for his. If your brother doesn't have a SID, then he should have one the next time you sign in to his account.

Thank you for the help, Brink! I got my mom's name fixed now. I haven't tried to fix my brother's name yet though in using step 10. I now have another question though. How does all her bookmarks and stuff she had saved in the task bar get back imported into our browser? All her bookmarks she had saved, as well as her contacts and everything else in her email are all gone. I see an option on the task bar that says 'import bookmarks now' but there isn't an option for google chrome which is the browser that we use. The only options to say to import from are microsoft edge, microsoft internet explorer, mozilla firefox, and bookmarks HTML file. The first time I fixed my user from the temporary profile issue I managed to get my bookmarks back but I don't remember how I did that that. How do I get all that stuff back to our browser?
