I can guarantee that deleting any of the SID keys would not delete a profile folder since the registry only references it.

Did you move your personal folders from within your profile folder to another location by chance? If so, that could explain why they are no longer in your profile folder.
Thanks for your suggestion, but no folders were moved. It's unfortunate that inexplicably the data has been lost.

After I pointed the value from:
    ROGER.ROGER-PC
    to
    ROGER
at least Windows logs into the correct, original user account, because the Task Bar icons have returned, and the Documents folder path points to C:/Users/ROGER, but still, the data is gone.

    Thanks again.

    You're welcome.

It is odd that the folders just vanished like that with your files and data.

Do you remembering doing anything right before this happened that may have been related?

Honestly, no. I just followed the guide from the original post, step by step. I'm also a software engineer and a database architect, so I'm fairly meticulous about following instructions, especially when relating to technology.

The only thing that happens is creating more Temp accounts as you can see in the prt sc.
The map that is marked is my user profile profile, which is empty when i click on it.

Hello Julias, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

You would have only wanted to do this for the SID key of the affected user account. It looks like you are changing both the "1001" and "1002" SID keys for two separate accounts. You wouldn't want both SID keys to use the same profile folder.

Just to verify, did you already modify the value of ProfileImagePath to have the correct C:\Users\Julias path, and restart the computer? If you did, then try step 9 to delete the SID keys.

    Hey!
I did everything as you instructed, but when i rebooted not onlyit logged on to a temporary profile looking desktop but my user folder was empty.
Is there any way of reverting this?

Hello Bfddone, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

The user folder would have already been gone since changing the registry value will not delete it. Did you move or do anything to your user folders before originally getting the temp profile error?

If you have a system image you can restore, you could use that.
