I reset the State DWORD value to zero both times. (sorry I should have mentioned that.) I just took the screen shot before resetting it.

I reset the state DWORD value both times, I just took the screenshot before doing so. I couldn't get it to work either time.

EDIT: (sorry for the repeated post. it was an accident and I don't know how to delete it)

    That's ok.

If you're still getting the same temp error, try the tutorial one more time just in case something may have been missed or not done exactly the first round.

If you still have the same issue afterwards, you could create a new administrator account to use instead if it doesn't also get this error. Once created, you could copy over any files (ex: music, documents, etc...) from the old account's profile folder to your new account's.

We can't sign into your account

I can't log in with an admin account nor any. I tried all the 6 ways to switch between user accounts in Windows 10 and am given no options.

    Hello Advice Pro, :)

What happens when you try to sign-in?

    Any error messages?

Have you already tried the steps in the tutorial on the first page here?

I did 1 - and 12 where I deleted the SID key without .bak. I then restarted and could log in, but to this TEMP account, and without the error.

Did you do anything before this happened? For example, move the Users folder, rename the user profile folder, etc...

Verify that the account's user profile folder (%UserProfile%) still exists and valid.

If it is, try the tutorial one more time double checking to make sure the path is correct for the ProfileImagePath value for this account's SID key in the registry.

I renamed the user profile folder in Safe mode. I now can't open the Start Menu or X-Menu, use Cortana, or open Search. There isn't an icon for File Explorer either. After a restart I got this error:

    Code:
    Microsoft OneDrive

Sorry, there was a problem saving settings. Make sure you have write permissions for the folder and restart OneDrive.
