    Hey @njnitehawk, :)

Has this been happening after any particular action?

Is your user profile folder still located in the default "C:\Users" folder? If moved to a location (ex: network or external) that is sometimes not available, it could case this error.

Do you have this issue with any other account on the PC?

You can safely delete the temp profile folders if you have corrected their location in the registry first.

difference in regedit than the instructions

Hello, I am new to this site. I have been having the temporary profile login issue. I have been following the thread you create for it, but when I open regedit, I do not have the existing folders necessary to navigate in order to fix the problem. I cannot find anything on the thread that explains why I don't have the same folders as other windows 10 users, but if a thread does exist for that I need some help finding it. Thanks for the help.

Hello Ian, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

Please go ahead and post some screenshots showing what you see instead in relation to the steps in the tutorial to see what may be going on.

Ok, so when I went to take screen shots, I actually realized I hadn't followed the mapping correctly. So I was able to try the rest of the steps with the step 12 process (because I had a file with and without .bak) It didn't work. While trying the process again, I noticed a few things were inconsistent for me than what was described in the tutorial:

    1. In my command prompt when using whoami/user command, the prompt responded that I was a temp profile along with the SID number. In your screen shot it identifies you as Brink with a SID number. That may just be because you were using an example screenshot

    2. When I went to modify the profileimagepath in the right section, it was already set to my user name as opposed to /TEMP

here is a screenshot I took after deleting the duplicate profile and renaming the .bak profile as described in step 12

After reading through more of the thread I also found this:
    Brink said:
Could be. If you like, you could try creating a new account, and sign in to it to see how it works.

If it works properly, then sign back in to the old account, back up anything you want to keep from it, make the new account an administrator, sign in to the new account, delete the old account, and switch the new account to your Microsoft account.
I thought this seemed like the path I might need to take next unless I am missing something. Is there a tutorial for switching accounts like this? I have never done an account switch before and am unsure how to do it properly as I only have one account

Yeah, the command in steps 2-3 will show you the SID of the current account. "Brink" is just an example since it was my account I ran the command from.

If the "C:\Users\ianev" folder is the correct path for your account's profile, then you should be able to now change the State value to 0 (zero) instead.

Afterwards, restart the computer to see if you no longer get the temp profile error.
