    Still not working

    Hello Brink,

Whenever I do step 13 (SID with and without .bak), then complete the steps and restart the computer. The changes I have applied are gone...

    Ineshirwa,

Just to verify, are you deleting the SID without .bak, and making sure the ProfileImagePath value path is correct for the SID with .bak and renaming it to remove .bak at the end?

Yes, but can I work on my files in the safe mode? I tried with the "explorer.exe" method and now my screen is "blinking" (on and off).

You should be able to, but I would recommend to backup anything that you don't want to lose to be safe.

While in safe mode, double check the registry entries again to make sure they are still correct for your user profile folder.

You may need to setup a new account if this one is beyond repair.

For the past 7-8 months I had this temporary profile problem with W10 and nothing I tried, either from the tutorial here or elsewhere on the internet would fix the problem for me. It was happening about twice per month but thankfully the upgrade to the Windows Creators Update seems to have got rid of this problem and I've had no temp profile sign-in for the past 6 weeks. Fingers crossed it will not return!

    Hi Brink,

I am a Systems Engineer (entry-Level) and I am having this issue. I have followed all the steps that were listed, even created a new user account. This is for a customer. When I followed the steps, before creating a new user, i kept changing the path to point to the correct place. The second time, and following, I ended up getting the 2 SID's, one with the .bak. Followed the steps to delete the regular one and rename the .bak. restarted and still signs in as a temp profile. So I ended up cfreating a new user and still get the same Temp profile issue. Could you suggest something? Thanks.

Hello deadlyspider, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

Usually if even a new account gets a temp profile error, you will need to reinstall Windows to fix the corruption.

What about if this is on the Server? I had to create the user on the serve. I tried logging in, remotely, to another machine and it still comes up temp. The customer states that this started when he started using a new machine.
