    Three posts I made:

    Post 2:

    Post 3:

My computer was scanning and there was a power outage. After that, I have been logged in to temporary profiles and all attempts to sign into the original profile have failed. I exported the registry before I tried fixing it and I deleted the temporary profile and deleted the ".bak" from the correct account's name. The ProfileImagePath was correct. I edited it and saved the changes anyway. After multiple attempts, the lock screen was just a blue screen. I opened an administrator command prompt and ran sfc /scannow and DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth. After running DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth and DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth, the lock screen appeared fixed since it was Windows Spotlight. I'm pretty sure it was the RestoreHealth that fixed it, but the CheckHealth might have helped I'm not sure. I read somewhere (don't remember where) that if the ProfileImagePath is correct then your profile is corrupt.

I've tried restarting I think more than three times. The files are safe. I just had to go to the users file and then open the original account. I backed up the folders in there along with the hidden files and folders like the AppData folder and the NTUSER.DAT. I don't plan on just pasting the AppData folder to the new account if I make one. I just thought I'd hold on to it and maybe salvage what, if anything, I can.

The computer is currently shut down, and I didn't want to turn it back on until I find multiple solutions that I can try. If screenshots are requested I might turn it back on.

Is it possible to fix a corrupted profile? How would I tell how corrupted it is? Is there anything I can do or is profile migration the only solution?

    Thank you!

    Hello @DellUser, and welcome.

Usually, you can perform the steps in the tutorial on the first post here to fix this. It will not hurt anything if it doesn't help.

Hopefully, you have a recent system image backup you can restore if needed.

    Hi Brink,

Thank you for replying so quickly. I tried the tutorial twice and the problem was not fixed. I have not checked to see if there is a system restore point before the problem occurred. I'm sure I want to check it now though since there's a possibility the power could go out again. Also, I forgot to mention I ran chkdsk /f in cmd.

Edit 1: Just found a system restore point dated before the problem began. Would that be a fix?
Edit 2: Never mind, I'm just going to try profile migration.
Edit 3: I changed my mind. I'm going with a system restore after learning that it can be undone.
Edit 4: The system restore failed. Windows couldn't load correctly.

    Thank you!

If you don't have a system image backup to restore, then you could try option two below to create a new profile for your account. If that also fails, you could create a new account to use instead.

Is the answer on that post the only answer?

A startup repair is the usual first thing to try when having Windows boot/startup issues.

Run Startup Repair in Windows 10

Since this happened after doing a system restore, you could try undoing the system restore like below to see if it may fix that issue.

Don't use the suggested BCDBoot command.
It contains at least one misprint. It should be /L not /1.

On the page the laptop is on, I only have Restore and Cancel. Do I restart it a couple times or shut it down and turn it back on while holding a button to get more options? Is the restore option going to undo it? Is there even a system restore point or is the button just there by default?

    Thank you!

What is the "Restore" option for? Could you post a screenshot?

Normally, you would need to boot into advanced startup at boot to use the undo system restore option. Depending on what this "Restore" is for, you may need to cancel to then be able to boot to advanced startup.

Can I hold down the power button to shut it down? It's raining and I don't want the power to cut off abruptly. Could that even make things worse or would it be okay?

Edit 1: I'm starting to worry I think I might force shut down but I'm not sure.
Edit 2: I shut it down.

    Thank you!
