My computer was scanning and there was a power outage. After that, I have been logged in to temporary profiles and all attempts to sign into the original profile have failed. I exported the registry before I tried fixing it and I deleted the temporary profile and deleted the ".bak" from the correct account's name. The ProfileImagePath was correct. I edited it and saved the changes anyway. After multiple attempts, the lock screen was just a blue screen. I opened an administrator command prompt and ran sfc /scannow and DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth. After running DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth and DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth, the lock screen appeared fixed since it was Windows Spotlight. I'm pretty sure it was the RestoreHealth that fixed it, but the CheckHealth might have helped I'm not sure. I read somewhere (don't remember where) that if the ProfileImagePath is correct then your profile is corrupt.
I've tried restarting I think more than three times. The files are safe. I just had to go to the users file and then open the original account. I backed up the folders in there along with the hidden files and folders like the AppData folder and the NTUSER.DAT. I don't plan on just pasting the AppData folder to the new account if I make one. I just thought I'd hold on to it and maybe salvage what, if anything, I can.
The computer is currently shut down, and I didn't want to turn it back on until I find multiple solutions that I can try. If screenshots are requested I might turn it back on.
Is it possible to fix a corrupted profile? How would I tell how corrupted it is? Is there anything I can do or is profile migration the only solution?
Thank you!
