    You've been signed in with a temporary profile Error

    How to Fix 'You've been signed in with a temporary profile' Error in Windows 10
    by Shawn Brink
    @Brink,

    My case was very frustrating because it was a clean install of build 16199 that was made yesterday (Saturday) morning and by night I did a reboot to go to another partition (different drive) and when I came back "bang", there was the problem, signed in to a temp account.

    This morning (Sunday) I started looking all over the web to find a solution but nothing worked, actually it becomes even worse, at some point it became unbootable and I was receiving the "GSOD" but after six hours of trying it boot up again to the temp account. So, immediately I activated the administrator account (just in case) and I started looking for more solution and then I found yours, I tried every steps that applies to me and nothing.

    I had two SID exactly the same except that one had a ".bak" at the end so, I redid the procedure again but this time kind of reverse:
    Instead of deleting the SID without .bak I deleted the one with .bak and then went to the other one and changed the ProfileImagePath to C:\MyProfile and closed regedit and rebooted and so I was back in business.

    My Profile has 159 GB and it was all there, no loss of application or files, but with this above procedure I lost my SID ending with 1000, now it ends with 1001. Are there any problems because of it?

    Anyway, to me you are the best, all tutorials of yours it's amazing, very clear and helpful.

    Thanks

    Hello Jay, :)

    If able, try the steps again, but be sure to change the values for the SID with .bak (if there) instead. The key is to have the correct path for your user profile folder set for the ProfileImagePath string value.

    If the above doesn't help and since this is a clean install and you have enabled the built-in Administrator, you might see if you are able to sign in to the built-in "Administrator" account, create a new administrator account for yourself, and sign in to the new account.

    If you are able to successfully sign in to the new account without getting a temp profile, then you could copy over any of our files (music, videos, documents, etc...) from the original broken account to the new account. You could then delete the original broken account.

    Brink thanks for your time!

    A question:
    How can I create a new account with the same name I have now because I don't want lose it since I have many things set to that account name?

    Is this a Microsoft account or local account?

    It is local account, I am using a Microsoft account for linking only.

    The only true way is to delete the old local account, and create a new local account with the same name.

    You would of course want to back up anything that you do not want to lose from the old account first though.

    Hopefully, you will not need to and be able to repair the profile instead.

    @Brink

    I got it solved!

    Before I started your tutorial procedure I exported the ProfileList and I forgot about it so, I signed in with the Administrator account deleted the current ProfileList and load the backup one and rebooted.

    Then there was the temp account again, I went through your procedures once more and this time all worked. My computer is up and running without the temp account message.

    Now we'll see how long it goes without a hiccup.

    Thanks again friend.
